The thing that annoys me also is the fact when u agreed on a price and that there are some complications along the way that blows the budget.

I know what you mean they found other things wrong with my car and fixed it and made me pay for it when they didnt even tell me about it. Was not happy with that!

There are all sorts of mechanics out there from absolute crap to brilliant. Good customer service dictates that you should call the customer if there is something outside of what you may have discussed with them. All too often mechanics change stuff without approval.

Really it depends on what it is though, If it is a fuse then change it but if it is a water pump then call the customer. I hope they didn't charge you to repair the oil leak.

Yeah thats true. I went through so many mechanics before I met a good one. One check up from a dodgy mechanic charged me 4 times the amount without letting me know!!!! Seriously if that happens can we refuse to pay for it because they ddint let us know before hand?

I am having no luck with the mechanic place just wondering if anyone could suggest a good place to take my car to have the oil leek and a service done on it. I live on the northen beaches so i guess somewhere around there or a little further.

ha. back when I had a monaro I took it in to get the exhaust repaired. the mechanic did about an extra $500 worth of work without telling me, that he felt was needed.

when he told me about the work I just told him I didnt ask for it nor did he tell me about it so I wasnt paying for the extra work.He stood there for a minute then said "fair enuf"...

speak to the MTA, (i think thats them) as they issue licences to work on cars, and i think they investigate matters of complaint. you should lodge one. and speak to the NRMA if they are an authorised/endorsed repairer
