This happened to my mate the other night.

It was the first time he parked his car (R32 GT-R) on the street in 8 months. He was at his next door neighbours house, and he came back to his at 11...and shit, no car! He was freaking out now, he runs inside, 'Anyone moved my car?'

No one had moved his car.

So he's getting that feeling now, like when his 180SX got stolen a couple of years back whilst he was sleeping, and he runs down the dead end of his street just on the off chance it may have rolled down the slight slope or something...

And what does he see? Two scumbags, a waste of oxygen, sitting inside his car. Now he is fucking screaming as he runs towards them, and they see him, and they bolt. He starts running after them, but they get away.

He calls the boys who go looking for the cunts, and they spot one of them but he jumps into a Porsche which speeds away, and they couldn't get the rego.

It turns out the thieves had somehow managed to roll it down the hill (from the flat ground, and away from the gutter from where it was parked in between cars), they had sawn the steering wheel in half because it had a club lock on it, and they had destroyed the ignition barrel thing, getting ready to hot wire it.

My mate reckons had he been a couple of minutes later coming home from his neighbours house, it would be 'bye bye GT-R'. It isn't your average GT-R either... All they had left to do was put on their steering wheel they brought with them.

:x :x :x :x :x :x

All of this happened in a quiet, nice, lower-North Shore area, and the car had been on the street for less than 24 hours. What is our world coming to?

:(

welcome to sydney :x

it could have been worse, your mate is lucky though. These pillarless cars are too easy to get into, once that happens you can roll the car down the street a bit.

Good to hear it's not gone.

Someone should make removable gearstick and accelerator pedals.

as nismod said,welcome to Sydney.

I lost my monaro years back after having parked it in the rocks for about 40 minutes. it was wedged in between two other parked cars, had a club lock on it,fuel cut,and a t-bar lock and it disappeared without a trace. they most likely pulled it out with trolley jacks then put it on a tilt-tray.

tell your mate to get some better security, and to be more careful in future. also,to by a lottery ticket as he's a lucky bastard.

Ahhh the rocks...I've had my Corolla broken into 2 times there (they broke the lock both times, cost $200 each lock to replace). Just a warning from anyone, stay the fuck away from there. That place is scum central, full of car thieves.

He has a lock up garage at the back of his house, very hard to steal a car from there - though it has been done before to his 180SX. I just can't believe it, first time he parks his car on the street in 8 months and they try to steal it. Someone must have been watching him pretty closely.

you'd be surprised. a guy at my first job a LONG time ago now lost a genuine A9X hatchback out of a locked garage.

he had two dobermans - they poisoned them.
there were two other cars parked in front of the garage - they were moved.
the torana was chained to the garage floor around the diff housing - they cut that off.
it had open pipes - they started it about a km down the road.

one member of this forum had his S14 stolen years ago by having the keys taken off of his bedside table in his bedroom, while he was asleep next to them!

if they want a car, they'll get it ,one way or another. I've lost two cars to thieves in the past. I'll kill anyone I see trying to take a car, regardless of who's or what the car is.

Everyone park your car near Justin or at least in his line of sight !

Anyone see the news about the car jacking/shooting at bankstown?

The one with the WRX? If i was that guy i would've jumped out. No car is worth losing your life over, however much you love it.

I was going to my mate's place the other night, and as I went to park outside there were 3 lebos across the street and up a bit. Now I don't mean to be racist, but we all know a large percentage of anything stolen is a result of them. After 15 minutes I got back in my car and drove home and took my dad's car back there, they disapperead shortly after I came back. It's likely they had no intention of stealing my car, but that's just the feeling I was getting.

I'll be putting a few killswitches in my car over the weekend, and due to my funky wiring job/s, no one will be able to find them :) That's not going to stop someone putting it on a tilt tray though :(

the rexie guy did what I would have done, floored it and gotten the fuck out of there. the coward wannabe car thief then shot at his back window in frustration, and the guy got a .22 in his shoulder through the back of the seat. he's lucky it was only a pissy little pistol that the prick had,but still,I reckon he did the right thing.

what's to say that if he got out and gave the thief the car that he wouldn't have shot him anyway,as he would be able to identify him?

That could go either way. Get shot at when you drive off or get shot if you get out of the car.

The more cowardly and more likely option for the car jacker would be to shoot at you as you're driving away. It would take a seriously hardened crim to shoot you on the spot after you've handed over your car.

that's true, but at least you're moving, and have a measure of protection between you and him if you stay in the car and drive off.
