Post subject:  Revenue Collecting?

Last night on my way home I was stopped by a smartly dressed pair of gents who wanted to find out if I had fresh breathe. As a concerned citizen, I wanted to know how fresh my breathe was to which he repied you don't need to know other than the fact it is fresh.

Same happened about 6 months ago, while smartly dressed gents were driving through local watering hole I asked them to check for fresh breathe and they said they couldn't unless I was seated.

Which really raises a question are we really interested in public safety or just trying to raise revenue?

I think you should have a word with their manager - the information about how bad your breath is belongs to you so I don't think they can refuse to tell you.

I thought in the interest of being able to help people guage freshness and be responsible citizens they would of been happy to help, but it was more like damn missed another one.

I had just finished a single glass of red cordial about 20 minutes earlier, so I knew I was well and truely under and I told them I had only just finished it. So I wasn't trying to hide anything.

Just venting my frustration with the system without trying to bring any trouble down on the forum, so some discriptions have been altered to protect the innocent.

i can see what your saying, with those actions in mind it seems like they arent interested in protecting the public from driving with bad breath, but rather want to only check your breath when its possible for them to screw you in the behind (whilst driving).

you should have peed on his trousers, then had a minty

Said well dressed gentlemen are not allowed to test your minty freshness when you are not in command of a vehicle, as if they test you out of the goodness of their hearts they become crapped on from a great height.

Not because of any revenue raising, but because your minty levels continue to alter for anywhere up to an hour after you consume your last red cordial. And if said gentlemen inform you that your breath is suitably fresh, and it subsequently sours, you can take them to court and get off because the gentlemens expert machine said you were fine.

that is true indeed, BUT if there was a disclaimer which said this test is for information purposes and does not prove you will have fresh breath at any time, then it should be ok. just as informational data for the person to know whether they have fresh breath at that time or not.

I don't think there was any doubt on that occasion that said fresh minty breathe was not so minty fresh, and I just wanted to know how long I needed to wait before going home to clean my teeth. If they said your breathe is really offensive, it would have made the decision to have a sleep in the car far more easier. Had they said it is a little on the nose but should be fine soon I could have waited I just wanted a general idea how bad my breathe was not a green light to go breathing on people.
