I obviously underestimated the power of these cars! I had a look on the net and I think they are rated at 160kw. We raced from a standing start and I got no traction :D (rb20det in silvia) He always had at least 3/4 car length and his was auto and towards the end he pulled away. I didn't know where I was changing as my tacho wasn't connected but his car had a lot of pull for a 3.5L n/a. I boosted it a fair bit and changed but he beat me :o

Is this normal?

If I was changing at redline and got a good start, should've I been able to beat him?

yeah, you should be faster, but the good start would make a big difference :)

Magnas are surprisingly quick off the mark, even the standard ones.

All you need to do is put the power to the ground.... go practice your launches... ;)

I found out today that the word around the traps is that his car is supercharged. Not sure if it's real but it could explain it.

My friend in his fully sick supercharged 89 corolla, which he thinks is the best car in the world, but is far from that, was beaten by a stock as a rock lancer VR-X. After that he kept saying "yeah, it was probly supercharged". I seriously doubt it, theres nothing wrong with getting beaten by a stock non-sports car as long as you can admit it.

I ain't lying mate. I lost to it, asked some people around the traps about it coz it was easily recognisable coz it had a personalised plate and a chick that knows him told me it was......I don't know if it's real or not as I said but I'm willing to admit a loss to a car as per my opening statement....."Lost to a Magna Sports"

i backed i off to gain traction and just got wheel spin each time i tried to give it more than half stick caused by the car dropping down a gear and reving higher as we havent had much rain of late i was thinking that it was cuased by the oil and shit coming out of the road but i went to some virgin road and got wheel spin there {almost smashed the car 3 times on the way to work once from wheel spin} so when i get some time off work (had none for the last month) i will adjust the kick down cable (if they have one) and adjust the throttle cable

damn.. to a magna.

i had a run with a HSV commy. 195i and he was no match.
then i had a run with a 250i -> now that had a lot of grunt..
but i managed to pull away. good take off i guess.

then a run with a monaro.
i'm not sure which has more grunt the monaro or the 250i but it was a closer match with the monaro... :D

take off was the same after end of 3rd gear thats when i noticed the monaros grunt. started to pull a little. :D

BUT with my GF bros MAGNA sport. :D hahahaha. not even close.
BTW i've got an SR20DET with turbo back + filter only...no bleed yet :D

that dudes magna mustave been supercharged...

I think the Monaro has 225kw's of power and the HSV ones (GTO's i think) have 255kw, and it is a fairly peaky engine 4 a V8, that is why they should be faster for 225kw...that and it weighs a barge arse 1700 odd kg.

thats a lot of arse.
i didn't know they weighed that much.

did anyone watched the 24hour edure race at the mountain.

MONARO took the title.
it pulls away from ferraris and porches.

must be somethin to do with the 7L all alloy V8 engine with somethin like 500kw of grunt :D

I heard the Monaro had over 200K put into that bathurst one though, a far cry from a 5.7L street-goer thankfully.
