I go to Freedom on Saturday because the Financial controller has been nagging me for a new sofabed couch for the last 6 months, and each time we get the money, something on the car has to break.

I get there, we find exactly what makes ehr happy, so I chat to the sales person.

I ask the following questions:

1. how soon can we have the goods after finance is approved/payment is made?
A. We have hundreds in stock right now, so straight away.
2. How quickly can delivery be organised, I want my goods STRAIGHT AWAY!
A. We can get Delivery aranged over the phone within 30 minutes.
3. How long will I be sitting at home waiting for the delivery truck?
A. They will call about an hour before they arrive, so you wont have to wait.
4. Can goods be dispatched today?
A. No, they will probably be dispatched about Wednesday or anytime you specify after that.

After getting this answer, I then repeated question 1 again, and was again told the same answer.

so I modified the question slightly, and asked this.....

New Q1: How soon can I be sitting on my fat arse in this chair at home with some form of alcoholic beverage in my hand scratching my nuts?

A. If you pick it up yourself, you can sdo that today, otherwise Wednesday onwards sir.

Finally, somewhat of a straight forward answer, I only had to ask 6 questions to get little bits of information from each to finally get all the information I needed to know that I had to pick it up myself if I wanted to get it's use today.

I ended up getting it home from Parklea in the back of my 180sx (pictures can be emailed upon request, send me a PM requesting, and providing me an email address.

Its because they're in sales, and salespeople are fucking useless.

If they had any brains, they'd be doing a job that actually creates something rather than scrounge off their ability to ignore ethics and common sense to squeeze every last drop out of a customer.

As I told this chick int he beginning, I wanted a seat to sit on that night while I belch, fart, and scratch my nuts.

That is why I had to go and pick it up myself (the only reasonI didn't walk away from it was because the woman likes it, and you cant upset a woman).

Ive been in sales for nearly 6 years, its all ive ever done.

But I hope you werent an arsehole to her.

You need to remember that people in retail spend their ENTIRE day trying to help customers who don't even deserve to be told the time of day, let alone be given good service.

99% of customers are pricks. And the customer is NOT always right.

whenever I go to the shops I try my very best to be nice to them.

Im done

That's true too.

I think the only group of people I've met that have been more annoying than salespeople are their customers.

Nope, defiantely not an arsehole, I actually worked in retail once myself, and it's a bloody hard job, and I respect their work.

I did explain to her after signing and sealing the deal that when I asked "how soon can I have the goods", I was talking about being able to sit back and feel this nice new cushy Sofabed under my arse.

She did tell me they are trained to make the customer think they get goods same day, and after the sale has been confirmed, and past the point of no return, they then break that delivery is ORGANISED today, but wont happen for 3 working days (usual lead time).

I said "no probs, but I asked for a reason, not to seal the deal, but to work out if I needed a work mate's ute, or try to fit the sofa in my 180sx, or to organise time off from work to wait at home for a delivery van.

We where all hapyp and chuckly when we left, and I bought the car home in the back of the 180sx (see picture linked in first post).

Because I didn't get it straight away, I had to fluff around to get bits of the information until AFTER I had paid $900 for the item.

I asked the question expectign an answer, not expecting to fluff around for 20 more minutes to get the "true and honest" (otherwise known as straight) answer.

Went past 1 cop, he looked across with a weird look on his face, went past another and got the red and blue lights, pulled over, blew into the device, and then he said I was right to go (must have thought I was drinking to be carting a 2 person sofabed in a 180sx sports car).

Either way, was all good, saved the wasted day off work, plus the delivery fee, and got the sofabed home in 1 piece.
