a friends car got broken into 2 weeks ago. wasnt much of a car, an old pulsar. they stole his radio control boat, headunit and a few dollars change in the ashtray. ohh and his jacket. they left his subs, gearknob and cds in the glovbox. why bother with the stuff they took?

Don't expect these people to do the logical thing Iain. they're just scumbags looking for cash for their next hit,or are bored kids who weren't raised properly.

a friend of mine had her car broken into three times in six weeks about a year ago in ultimo. they bent the driver's door frame out each time to get into it.
what did they get the last time? a UBD street directory.
before that it was 50cents,and the second time it was a hairbrush,a scrunchy and a 10yr old gregory's.

she sold the car after the third attack and got public transport to work.

like the car theft (as in complete cars) thread, all you can do is make it as secure as you can, don't leave anything in sight inside it,and try and park in the safer spots (busy areas that are well lit etc).

Justin...

Twice personally, been victim of "Smash & grab".

Once at Glebe near the public school, just 50m from the Sydney Uni turnoff. Smashed my window, alarm went off, they ran away.

2nd time, in an open off-street carpark off George St., near the World Centre block. Smashed the Corolla rear window to pick up a bag which has an empty bottle of water in it, a leftover 6" Sub, and a pair of cheapo sunnies.

Lesson learnt. During the day, I'd park in open, populated places at all time. At nite, park in secured parking centres. Worth every dollar, when u consider the cost of replacement window [more work with tinted wondow] and the joy of cleaning out hundred pieces of broken glass.

I live in Pyrmont, and luckily, I've got underground parking. I would not park my car on the street overnite. Although, there's a black auto 180 that parks on our street on a regular basis.

Steve

i agree with parking in a parking station at night in the city. i park in the same carpark if i can when i go there, a security guard has long since recognised me and says hi, knows my car etc. its a good idea to get to know the people if you are a regular somewhere.

all the times my cars have been broken into is when my car was parked outside my house. dumb fucks! why wouldnt i be home when you do shit like that? if i wasnt home, my car wouldnt be there
