In regards to said HPI Technical Editor you bring up an interestiog point. For somebodylike myself who is not mechanically trained, the afforementiond person seems to write informative and accuurate articles.

But to you justin, who is obviusly mechanically trained you see something totally different.

How is the everyday enthusiest supposed to sort the wheat from the chaff, so to speak, without going toTAFE and doing an apprenticeship? :o

Sorry to go OT but it's my thread, so there!

good question, and I agree it could be quite difficult. the only real advice I can give in this area would be to read from as many different sources and talk to as many different people who work on cars for a living, and to then work out who's right, and who is spreading mis-information.

magazines are on a deadline, and need to make things interesting for the readers, whilst filling in gaps in the information from the owner's about their cars, who often don't know much themselves. it's not hard to print glaring lies in this sort of environment. especially when the guy writing them isn't trained himself.

Justin...

I win. $1.449 for ultimate yesterday. There was one ultimate pump, which apparently is the only high octane in Bega.

Datacast this afternoon saying service station operators are asking the government to cap the price of petrol at $1.50 a litre.... I don't like their chances.

Little Johnny will never be caught mucking out the trough though, too many Liberal-supporting businesses have got their snouts too firmly buried in it for that to happen.

Fuel is covered by a state tax but is effected by the cost of crude oil more so than the government impossed tax.

A fuel cap won't be a solution if the cost of crude oil keeps rising. The government wont be subserdising the extra cost.

I persoanlly would not be complaining about the fuel hike IF wages were raised accordingly, Inflation sucks really. Cost of living goes up but wages remain the same.
