Ark you need a car that you can drive before we organise a track day!

meh give it a week or two :P

If I organise a track day, my car will HAVE to be working for it :D

I managed to get it back on the road 3 weeks before the last track day i went in - because I payed for my spot before I fixed the car (this was when i ripped the wheel off  )

Shall I start calling wakefield? Or perhaps the council to block off mcquarie pass 8)

If you're going to do it on a weekend I might be in.

just wait for a wakefield practice day, and get a bunch of people to turn up.
Much easier and cheaper than organising a proper track day.

The biggest issue I find with first-time track participants is their misunderstanding of the concept of "slow in, fast out" when it comes to taking corners.

It actually means slow down to a little below the limits of adhesion, so you've got some room to trim your line to find the optimal one, and then feed the power in on exit.

It doesn't mean go into the corner at a catatonically slow pace, wrench the steering wheel and jump on the throttle and ride out the ensuing power oversteer while the guy behind you gets frustrated at your lack of pace while being too scared to try and pass you anywhere in case you crash into them. :D

The amount of first time heroes I've seen on the track doing the world's worst impression of Tsuchiya is beyond counting.

I think if you've never been on a track before, you'd be FAR better off going to a grip driving day on a circuit before you try and drift on one.

the track is nothing like the road. the grip level is totally different, and a totally different approach is required to get good times.

The first thing on my list is actually an advanced driver training course so that i know exactly how my car will behave in any given situation.

One of my colleagues just did Luffy's course out at Oran Park, and he wouldn't shut up about it for days afterwards.

It covered panic stopping, avoidance measures, and skid control that he kept talking about.

haha Scathing you beat me to it!

I've heard Ian Luff's course is pretty good.

Step 1 is Drive to Survive

Step 2 is Advanced car control and

Step 3 is Performance Driving.

They are top course's real eye openers too.

Having done all three id recommened doing them all not one was a waste of time nor money.
