According to motoring magazines etc (and totally agreed with by me) lack of driver training, poor roads and bad attitude kills. Speed might kill you but it'd be because of the above three things contributing alot of the time.

Speed doesn't kill. Stupidity kills.

I watched a doco a while back where the preached speeding kills, then showed police driver training where they actually said they were trained to speed safely, go figure.

this is a pointless thread. you have only posted this to stir shit, because if you wanted to be taken seriously you wouldnt of compared the government's take on speeding to a off street supercar race. im sick of reading this crap. Use your common sense. You know the differance between right and wrong.

Just because its expected of someone like me...

Its not speeding that kills.... its the sudden stop at the end... :o

In terms of the governments slant on things, hell yes speed kills. Speed is accepted to be a contributing factor to a majority of accidents. The discrepancies start from there. Most specifically, the investigative agents (crash investigators, forensic officers and the like) definition of 'speed' (namely, travelling too fast for the conditions; this includes doing the posted speed limit on a foggy highway, for instance), and the government using that to justify revenue raising...

If you want to start a discussion about this sort of topic, comparing a race car, in racing conditions to any sort of legitimate road use is pretty stupid. All you are really doing is highlighting the fact that there is a safe avenue to release your pent up need for speed. the racetrack.

Speed (going too fast for the conditions) kills, yes. Travelling at a rate over some of the arbitrary speed limits set in this country, in fair weather will not be anymore likely to kill most people than travelling at the speed limit, or below it.
