Just that stretch of road, there are three cameras, two going up the hill and one down. All within 400 meters.

I haven't counted them for a while now, but there are about 8 cameras in the Harbour Tunnel nowadays. (Northbound)

try this one night...

On the hume hwy just after the mechano set intersection, over the bridge and next to the petrol station.. there is a fixed camera and 3 lanes... 1 to turn left to a small street (right after the petrol station) and 2 to go straight... the lane to turn left does not end immediately and does not have road sensors... its a decent straight that leads all the way to Just Japs @ lansvale... ive clocked 140 and no happy snaps... make sure u stay in that lane all the way until it ends...

There are signs at either entrance of the harbour tunnel advising that there are cameras. There was previously only one in the middle of the tunnel(s) that was clearly marked by the additional lighting installed in the cameras zone. What the RTA found was that drivers would drive through in pairs and slow down to below the speed limit to get a clear path ahead. Once they crossed the speed camera, they would then race to the other end of the tunnel. This was found to be an increased safety risk and so the additional cameras were installed and are now 'hidden'.

As for the other cameras around the state, most don't really work. The way to check is to drive through them as fast as you can. If you get a ticket, then you know that it is active :)

damn the fixed speed cameras but they are there for a reason. the biggest debate would be as to whether they are there for revenue raising or detering motorists from speeding in accident hot spots.
it does make you wonder..
at the end of the day, if lose licence, then you'd only wish you were driving like a grandma. best thing is to actually drive like a grandma and keep your licence and to avoid forking out for hefty fines.

on the other hand.... those E-tag lanes at the toll booths are a wonderful idea!
i dont have an E-Tag myself but use this lane almost every day.
i think i may have gone thru there about a billion times now and nope, no nada in the mail.
probably because of the Vic plates on my work vehicles...
any ideas?

i think someone already mentioned how you can tell.

i think it was fergo, but let me repeat it for people that dont read :P

there are lines cut into the road with the 'sensor' wire placed inside this cut, then its filled in again. look for these lines on the road in either direction. but just remember this is not a 100% way of telling. some have had whole sections of road dug up to place the sensors in.

if u cant tell if those cuts have been made, then you arent observant enough to drive a car
