Hi All,

I got a letter today by Registered post from the EPA saying they want to test my car for sound and pollution..etc in a testing centre in a month from now.

They description of my car on the notice was:
Nissan Silvia Sedan

The RTA only knows the Car as being : Nissan 200SX S15. So i am assuming, due to the silvia badges on the car - a motorist or neighbour of mine has dobbed me in for being 'too loud'..or some other reason.

Luckily the car will be sold and owned by somebody else by that time, so i don't have to get it tested....it just pisses me off!

Anybody had this happen to them?

Payam

if the notice indicates nissan silvia sedan, wouldnt it make it a default to lack of valid info? since its not a sedan, its a coupe? plus its a 200sx(besides jdm name) on aussie soil? but thats if you care about it now since you've sold it :P

its probably not a good idea to admit things like that on a public forum :)

Payam0001, notify EPA or RTA who ever is the org with the letter that you don't own the vehicle and who is the current owner.

If you leave it you licene or the rego will suspended. So either you'll get screwed for a car you don't own, or the guy that bought your car will break your legs for not informing him and as a result his rego being suspended.

isnt it your legal right to know who reported you or why this occured?

i think all you have to do is call up some agency and pay them a fee and they will give u the necessary documents - forgot who though.

I actually called the EPA, they told me an 'inspector' spotted me driving and reported me. My car does not give off black smoke and only has a Xforce system (84db max i think).

I actually think the way things are going i'll have to end up going to get the car tested at the epa as the guy buying my car is stalling..needs more time. I will get the exhaust checked out at a muffler shop 2morrow for cracks..etc and hope for the best.

Hey Payam it happened to me i was the one driving on the M4 i just failed my test yesterday by 5 decibles the guy was an asshole also told me i had to remove my pod and boost controller.

Also i should let you know you can't legally sell the car unless you inform the owner it's had that defect issued to it.

I hate the EPA, i wanted to hurt the testing guy he could've let it slide but he chose to support this hypocrisy we try to survive in.

I called the EPA today, they told me they check for the following:
* BOV
* Air Filter
* Exhaust
* Noise/Pollution

Damnit! This is going to cost heaps.

Payam
