and there you have it, it mite not unfair to compare different econmies of different countries on fuel prices and such, but comparing qld to nsw is pretty decent in my books.

u buy ur fuel in NSW, ur getting reams in the butthole but the petrol nozzle

im with outdrifting on this one

"The RACV estimates that for every dollar spent on fuel, only six cents is spent on road upgrades"

well, its good to see that everything 'works out' in the end and that the money is put into fixing our roads, i mean just have a look at parramatta road, its a work of art !!....

"The government will spend $11.4 billion over four years on Auslink, in the same time it will collect $60 billion in petrol taxes"

so, where the does the other 50 billion goto ? i mean, its not short change is it

the first time i realised how much of petrol cost goes to tax was when i was filling up at a local caltex servo, there was a little sign there actually stating that some 40 odd percent goes to tax... i was a little shocked to say the least

Sorry, we pay $1.05/L for 98ron too. (I'm in Brisbane).

ATM, the price of normal unleaded is about 95c/L and Optimax and BP are always 9c/L more.

Petrol maybe expensive in NSW or even Australia, but think about other benefits we have.
Medicare, Youth Allowance, And other government benefits such as baby bonuses etc..
Everything's gotta be balanced out to maintain and build a stong economy.
its all about Economics.
but then, the tax system is this country is just f*cked!.

half those benifits dun even benifit us. its good if you do need it, IF eventually that is, other than that almost 33% of hard earned pay goes to 'passing the buck'

Guys it still cheaper than other countries...

When i was back in Portugal in 98. It was $1.50 a litre for Unleaded.

Considering it's only gone up 40 cents in 8 years isn't that bad...

I don’t think its fair to pour so much crap on the price of petrol, or any other taxes for that matter

yes, before tax, the petrol would only cost like 50-60 odd cents a litre, and sure, the tax rate is pretty high.. but noone is forcing anyone to stay in the country

if you want tax breaks and cheap fuel, go to Malaysia.

I don’t want to be racist, so this next comment isn’t aimed at anyone in particular, but i know of a lot of 1st/2nd generation immigrants who do nothing but sit around on the dole saying, "this country is shit, it would be so much better if ... ". All i have to say to them is if you don’t like it, leave.

i dont think anyone is saying this country is shit, far from it, but shitting on the government and tax's...thats a different matter entirely.

This is not a racism issue, nor was it heading that way at all.
