BitTorrent is a p2p (peer-to-peer) program, the program you download is the client program that you run on your computer.

What you do is download a *.torrent file of a file that you want to download (e.g. from us it would be s13_manual.pdf.torrent), that torrent file contains information on the file, which server controls the torrent (called the Tracker) and checksums to verity the file is complete etc.

You load the torrent file into your BitTorrent program (I use one called Azureus), once you select the directory you want to save the files to, it connects to the Tracker to see who else is sharing this file / downloading it, that way everyone is uploading and downloading to each other and sharing the bandwidth, rather than one particular server sending to everyone (i.e. like me hosting the files on the SilviaNSW website).

I hope that explains it clear enough, if you read the BitTorrent website you can get a more technical overview with diagrams and everything :)

I will setup a Tracker on SilviaNSW tonight or tomorrow if I get the chance :)

BitTorrent was originally created to share Linux distributions, but it has grown EXTREMELY quickly and now their are litterally hundreds of clients available and its applications are varied. Even game companies like Valve (Half Life, Counter-Strike) and Blizzard (Warcraft etc) are starting to use it to roll out updates for their games and even to release new games online !

SilviaNSW BitTorrent Tracker is now up and running and I am sharing all the main manuals that I currently have:

http://www.silviansw.com/tracker/

Once you have a BitTorrent client installed, all you need to do is go to the above URL and under the name column click on the torrent you want, it your browser will then download the *.torrent file and open it in your BT client and ask you where to save it... easy as that.

P.S. The whole idea of this is that when you finish downloading it you leave it open for a while so that you can share it with others, thus sharing the bandwidth/load between everyone wanting the file.. makes life alot easier :P

No I already have the Nissan S15 Workshop manual October 2000, SM0E-1515GO. I've been told that there is another manual something along the lines of "engineers manual"??? Does anyone actually know if this exists or has someone got this confused with the workshop manual?
Cheers.
