Hi there,

This is my first technical post and I am sorry that it is a question.

We have built a 1994 180sx black top - gravel spec rally car (had our first event two weeks ago.. awesome fun), we upgraded from a Datto 1200.

Anyway, I managed to fry my existing ECU (E5 23710 50F05), so I threw in a mates spare one (J4 23710 60F07) which I am guessing is from a true Type X. The problem is that is ran like a pig and only ran on one cylinder and threw up a code 21 ignition error. So after some reading of many forums, I learnt that they are basically not compatible.

The problem is that I am having huge trouble finding an E5 ECU.

My question is, can I use a 62 or 63 (redtop ECU) and make it work? My understanding so far is that there is a fat and a thin sensor that needs to be swapped (I think 02 sensor), but is that all?

Otherwise, does anybody know a place to contact that might have an E5 ECU. I am located in the South Coast so wandering around the wreckers is not really an option.

Cheers
Damien
