Post subject:  catalytic converter too short?

Hey All,

i recently changed my cat (was a catco ) on a s14a and bought a HPI Japan Sports Catalyzer
but its shorter then the catco when placed side by side, tried installing it and theres a gap (obviously)

i have a CES Dump/Front pipe and a kakimoto catback exhaust.
has this happened to anyone else?
or is the HPI cat designed to fit only jap front pipes?

Cheers

....if the flanges are at different angles it might have been an s13 cat...from memory the s13 ones are longer.

S14/15 cats are about 40mm longer than S13

hmm couldnt be because i checked the part number on the HPI cat and it matches to the s14/15 part.
this isnt good... so it has nothing to do with the length of the front/dump pipe being an australian made or jap made? i've been lied to :(
the front pipe sits on all the original hangers same as the catback as the standard exhaust, no mods nothing.
the difference from the catco and the HPI cat when placed side by side is longer then 40mm from memory.

guess the only way i can check is to get the HPI dump/front pipe.
i asked them as well and they told me if they sit on the original hangers then there shouldnt be any problems.
so its either the cat is wrong or the CES front pipe is shorter?
