Running 1 bar with those mods , im pretty sure you will eventually do some major damage i wouldnt recommend running such high boost
stay around the 8-9 psi to be safe , until you get some internal engine work done.

The 2871R comes in a few trim sizes - is it the 48 52 or 56?

The 52T is capable of flowing about 270kw worth of air, but it's highly unlikely you'll end up with a power figure that high. If you read the turbo section of this forum, there's a few examples of power output - 230-250rwkw is more like it.

The other thing is that those figures are at more than 1bar of boost. More like 22-24psi. If you want to keep boost to 1bar, the figure will obviously be lower.

I disagree a bit with kurupt. Obviously some engines are in better condition than others and each is different, but I don't think you'll need internal engine work done. As an anecdotal example, there's a few guys on this forum who run track cars at 20+ psi of boost on standard bottom ends without any dramas. The quality of the tune is important here - for e.g. knock will shorten engine life considerably.

As for when it comes on boost, there's a few variables that will play into that as well. It could be reaching full boost anywhere between 3500 and 4500rpm, it just depends.

Post a dyno sheet once you're done mate, keen to see how you go. Where you getting it tuned?

You'll find that the std cams will limit the engine's breathing also, and reduce your power figures.

Aim for responsiveness and a smooth curve over peak dyno figures. Noone is impressed by numbers, and numbers don't make a car faster.

200kw atw is plenty for any track anywhere near sydney that isn't only 400m long and dead straight.
If you're interested in anything other than just drag racing,I suggest that you tune the car for best response and focus on driving it more, and worry less about what it put out on the rollers.

If it's tuned properly 1.3-1.4 bar on a stock bottom end is safe enough.

As fergo mentioned, the standard cams will choke it up top, so you'll probably find around 1.1-1.2 bar it's not going to be making significant gains in power for the extra boost so no point going higher for the sake of a few kW.

HKS step ones or tomei pon cams are generally win all-round,no noticeable loss anywhere in the rev range, partly because they are quite mild compared to serious NA jobbies.

Limit yourself to 264deg. duration and 8.5mm or so lift if you don't want to change valve springs and fit rocker stoppers now.

lol... how much power your car makes really depends on who is tuning the car, and what condition your motor is in, i know someone with an identical setup to you has made 280kw but had to back of the boost a bit cos she was pingin of its head, some people are lucky with freak motors, if your tuner cant give you an easy 230kw safe tune with that setup id be looking for someone else i think that's the bar you need to set...

update this thread once you take it in also shoot me a pm im interested to know who is tuning the car :D

hey guys thinking about getting some tomei poncams to help the mid range and help boost come on faster what kind of gains can be expected and is it worth doing cam gears at the same time will there be much gain for the money?
thanks

LOL! Internal work for 14psi boost. Hes got a Power FC, Larger injectors and Z32 Maf, its all in the tune. Safe tune will be fine. Netting around 230rwkw is a safe level for the internals, without doing any major damage. When your cracking the 300kw mark (usually cams are needed etc) then you might think about internals. sr20 bottom ends are fairly strong.
