Post subject:  Cluster Km's VS PowerFC Km's reading

Hey All,

the other night when driving i was admiring the interior of the car and had a look at the PFC hand controller, played around with it for abit and then noticed the km's shown on the hand controller to the cluster are different..
it was strange the PFC was showing 10kms more then the cluster is that normal??
not sure if it was recent or this has been happening for years, but i've been following the cluster kms without any trouble from cameras or cops that i didnt do deliberately.

just came to mind that could it be that harness issue that yavuz found (which is booked in) that is causing that difference in reading?

bah, anyone else notice the kms' difference on their PFC and cluster?
im quite confident the PFC is more accurate definitely..

or maybe the safety cameras can help me out..

Cheers guys,

the PFC will usually read a bit different to the dash, especially if the diff has been changed from standard.

Best bet is to check with a GPS and see which is more accurate.

hey Dumhead,

i will do that actually and see what speed im actually going, i was thinking of taking the M4 or road work zones to hopefully have those signs that read your speedo hehe :D

Thanks man!

checked with my GPS and it shows the same km's as the PFC, now its definite my cluster is 10km's less.

what should i do now...
would that mean i should get it recalibrated? or new cluster? 8)

just drive to the PFC speed, or 10k less than the speedo :)

hoping you wouldnt say that :P
but then again i guess it isnt a problem that would stop the car from moving, just have to live with it until maybe something breaks.
old age makes me speed less anyways.
haha

Usually its the other way round...

are you running 20s?

What difference will the tyre size make to the readout from the gearbox sensor?

His road speed will be out if the tyre diameter is off,but the dash would still show an accurate reading from it's gearbox input.

What's happening here is that the sensor and ecu are working correctly, but the cluster isn't,hence the displayed difference in speed.

The solution is to have the cluster re-calibrated. Then the ECU and cluster wil show the same readout for a given speed.

i've read around as well it is usually the way around which is why i was tripping.

nah no 20's man what you take me for xD hehe 8)

it is the cluster, i swapped it with my friends one and it all works perfectly.
placed my one in his car and it was 10km's off just like how it was on my car.
still have his in my car
