Hi All,

noob here needs help.

received my tein type flex coilovers, cusco stabilisers (front and rear) and cusco rear camber arms. :)

im planning to install all of these coming weekend with a few mates. car is S14 98, i wanted to know what i should ask to have adjusted or aligned, since the coilovers once installed i will definitely need a wheel alignment and corner weight adjustments made, is there anything else i should look out for or ask to do? could i just take it to any place that does alignment? any recommendations?

Wanted to book in Josh, but his booked out for the next 3 weeks!!!!!
advice: book early if you need him for any work now (if you don't already know that is), those days of calling a day or 2 before dropping your car off are over!

Cheers guys

You may possibly need rear toe arms as well, depending on the car's ride height and the condition of the rear knuckles.

Also,if you haven't done radius rods or locking collars yet,I would suggest you do those at the same time.

Thanks Fergo, always been a great help.

the cars a daily now as well as some track days as it was just a weekend car previously, its on lowered springs and stock shocks for years now and i pretty much want the car at a good height no sunken or full sik, just above the tyres, running on stock rims.
with the rear toe arms, radius rods would it be a good idea to get just any brand or should i stick with branded such as cusco? also since its more of a street car and some curcuit racing is it ideal to get alloy subframe bushes/locking collars and pineapples or just alloy bushes?

i guess when i did my research i must of lacked or not even bothered looking into those before purchasing, i usually go perfect run for parts.

thanks for the suggestion ronin i actually might head up there to get the adjustments done.

Cheers guys.

If you plan on keeping the car for several years,I would recommend name brand gear over ebay/just jap stuff.

Just jap arms will get clunky after 12-18mths of daily driving. Cusco joints have been known to last for a full decade...

I personally prefer solid bushes for the subframe as once they're in,you never need to touch them again. poly bushes DO wear out eventually and will have to be replaced. poly bushes are also a touch harder to install.
Poly won't transmit quite as much diff noise into the car as the solids will, but they also don't last as long, and cost about the same.

Thanks Fergo,

just ordered some cusco toe arms and radius rods,
yep im planning to keep the car for a good 2-3 years minimum, as the car has only done no more then 140k kms being a weekend driver in the last 3 nearly 4 years i've owned the car.

not too dramatic with the noises, the car itself isnt a luxury spec or the comfort minded. so im happy with the alloy bushes. think i might hit up whiteline for those.

Thanks man!

:D

Just jap for the subframe bushes will be fine. You can't stuff up a solid piece of aluminium...

Hey Guys

success! installed everything on the weekends
coilovers, camber arms, castor rod, toe arms and alloy subframe bushes

Thanks for the advice Fergo, the bushes on all of them were F***ked!
now im planning to book it in for an alignment on all the parts installed, wanted to know if you could help me out as im quite clueless in what to tell the alignment guys on how i want them aligned and how much etc.

would the guys know what to do? or do i need to let them know how much degrees (if thats the term) i want?
as its mainly a street car if that helps.

i'll use what Ronin advised i'll give rydalmere road and race suspension a call, anyone in particular i should talk to who knows his stuff Ronin?
if it doesnt take long i might give Josh a call as well and see if he could maybe fit me in but thats only if he can.

Cheers guys!

Alignment spec for a street car:

Front:

Toe: 0.5mm OUT (1.5mm OUT if you drive hard most of the time)
Caster: As much as you can get,at least 8 deg. Positive
Camber: 1.5deg. Negative (2deg. neg if you drive hard most of the time)

Rear:

Toe: 1.2mm IN
Camber: 1.2deg. Negative
