Afternoon all,

I'll be installing my coilovers this afternoon. The car will need an alignment, be it that I'm a suspension noob, I'm wanting some input before requesting alignment settings.

The car is an S14 that atm the moment my wife is daily driving, the bulk of which is freeway KM's. I drive the car of weekends and drive it fairly enthusiastically. So a compromise is required to save tyres from camber wear, however I still want reasonable grip levels and good turnin. Furthermore, I despise understeer and much prefer on the limit oversteer.

With this knowledge, I leaning toward the following initial alignment settings to use as a base. Should anyone have any advice and why, I'd love to hear it.

Front -
Camber = -2.0
Toe = 1.0* toe out
Castor = 6 deg

Rear -
Camber = -1.0
Toe = Zero

Am I on the right track?

Cheers,
Grant

The front camber and toe settings will still chew tyres. It'll also tend to pull one way or the other on uneven roads so not ideal for a daily driver.

Depends on the type of tyre but it's a bit much camber for a regular street tyre too.

I tend to also keep a bit of toe in on the rear, even on the track car, to help with stability.

For a run of the mill street tyre on a daily i'd be looking at

f:
toe 0
camber 1.5
caster as much as possible without scrubbing

r:
toe 2mm in total
camber .75-1

if you have an s type street tyre (ku36, rsr, rt215) add another .25-.5 camber at both ends but accept that the wear will increase when doing a lot of freeway km's.

Cheers for the assistance gents.

At least I now have an idea of what to ask for as a base.

The coilovers are now in, I'll set the height and go and get it aligned.

Cheers,
Grant
