hey guys theres a knock in my front end which seems to be occuring when i brake really hard, comming to a complete stop and taking off it seems to be whenever there is heavy load in a backwards or forwards direction so not a tie rod end does anybody have any idea some times its one big one some times its a few little knocks and when its cold it dosent do it at all

i have checked and replaced
castor arms/bushes
cailpers,pads and rotors
struts/cambertops
all underbody bolts are FT (fu&%ing tight)

does anybody have any hints as to where this would be comming from
its to loud to be a sway bar link in thinking a balljoint or control arm bearing...

Loose nuts on the strut top (3). Maybe big bolt that holds top to strut also.

I've had the same symptom in my S14 as of late and has being diagnosed by my mechanic as the Front Lower Control Arm ball joint being worn...

New Front Control Arm from Nissan costs about $400 (each) as you need to buy the whole arm since the balljoint is press fitted to the arm.

Or you could also buy one from pedders, who manufacture an oem replacement arm and ball-joint for around $150 from memory ( at least they do for an s13, I would have to assume an S14 part would be available, as the car was sold here.

Yeah check the 4 crossmember bolts, have to be pretty tight.

Also check castor rod brackets. if it's not them it might be the balljoint.
