It will also attract a very heavy fine if it is detected

and it'll flow worse than a piece of straight pipe will.

Buy a replacement.

fergo i didnt want to buy a straight pipe cause if the cops look at it it appears to be a proper cat.

wouldnt the flow be the same as if it had the honeycomb if not a bit easier due to less restriction?

Not exactly,as the flow becomes very turbulent as it opens up fron the dump pipe into the internal chamber of the cat body.
it will still flow ok,but not as well as a proper cat or straight pipe will.

if you're going to punch it out,it would be worth trying to fit a piece of straight pipe INSIDE the cat body.

If you put a straight bit of pipe in your cat body you can be fined, majorly. RTA/EPA can check your car out with an IR camera and will see the internal pipe. So, no cat=$15k fine.

Not worth it IMO, just get a replacement cat or just go the punched out (sorry officer I didnt know the internals had melted) method

yeah i wouldnt put a straight pipe in due to the look. atm if you look at it it appears to be a proper cat with scratches and all just no internals.

decided to just buy a new one next week.

IR camera? WTF this isn't CSI Miami lol

15k fine is fiction as well, most u will get is an emmisions defect which can't be more than bout $800

All these wild figures people throw around is crazy

no individual can get fined that much for no cat geez

hey mate.

if you think some of the honeycomb is loose why dont you just pull it off and inspect it. its only 4 bolts.

if its sounding like metal rattling check for any loose exhaust bolts. and more info such as loss of power etc etc
