Get guys, sorry if this is a noob question....

Was wondering if there is anyway to convert the S15 to OBD2? I'm not sure if standard is OBD1 or Nissan proprietary... I want to hook up my computer/iPhone, but everything is only OBD2 supported. Any idea if this is possible and an easy job?
Thanks for the help - google didn't help much as it kept throwing up US sites, where all cars from 1996 were OBD2 (and they dont have the S15 anyway).

-D

from memory the S15 has the same connector as the S13 and 14.

It's Nissan's own connector, but it's essentially OBDII with a few changes.
There are Nissan Consult adaptors available to connect to a computer and some PDAs, but not directly to an iPhone - unless that's been done more recently.

Thanks DumHed,

iPhone connectivity is achieved through an AdHoc wireless network.

Thats the hardware needed. Can also be used for notebooks to connect.

I'm in Japan, so Ill ask around with some mates or just go to a Nissan dealer direct. Dealers are ace here - consultations/qns etc are all free, and everytime i go i get free shit like coffee or bread.

definitely haven't seen anything like that done for Nissan Consult yet, but someone might have done it :)

Thanks for the help DumHed - appreciate it.

Is something like this what I'm after?:

Been doing some research, but flakey net connection doesn't help, and as i don't have the car until Saturday, its hard to go out and count the pins!

Looks like another forum user had a simliar hardware solution working....

yeah that looks like it'd do it.

There was someone on here doing locally made consult adaptors, but I don't know if he still is.

Thanks again,

Its only 40 bucks, so I'll try that with a cable to my laptop with some free software before spending 200 bucks trying to set it up with the iPhone. Surprised no one else seems to be doing this in Oz.... very convenient to have all ur OBD info on the iPhone, and cheaper than getting a bunch of guages. Also means i can listen to my music while getting all my engine info. Will be a sweet set up if it works, altough i already have Power FC, so its just going to display the info in a prettier format.

So - picked up the car and asked the guy at the shop. The S15 (JDM) uses Nissan Consult 2. 2 is not OBD2 compliant, Nissan Consult 3 is.... looks like no OBD2 interface... Would that be right?

If you have a PowerFc, the consult port wont work. Its only for factory ECU's
