Heya,

Recently moved to Melbourne, don't have garage space to tinker with oil changes so I need to find a reliable workshop which preferably specialises or is at least more knowledgable in the realm of SR20DET's.

Yes I know this is SilviaNSW but if you have ever tried looking for anything on ns.com it is a lost cause... you guys also have a good community here, so hit up your mates to see if there's anyone they can recommend.

Thanking you!

:P

Most guys seem to be recommending RacePace, or Trent at Status tuning. Maybe PM Liz as she moved there from Sydney and had the same dilemma with her 180sx

Race Pace is the pick of the bunch, particularly if you want to talk to someone about circuit racing suspension and car setup.

Dr Drift also has good feed back.

Sorry I can't really recommend anyone I've used!

Everyone raves about RacePace and if you want to get them to do some work for you, just rock up rather than trying to book via phone as they always tend to turn me away when i phone (perhaps they've heard the stories lol)

I wouldn't recommend trent.. my engine came back from there busted with a fuzzy story about how it came to be that way

Oh but i do like Chasers Motorworks in West Melbourne, great attention to detail and plenty of silvias and 180s in their workshop!

Liz

Hey thanks for your replies guys!!!

I went workshop stalking 2 weekends ago and here is my feedback:

RacePace - very exclusive, extremely clean workshop but also extremely expensive and out in the sticks. Charge $200 for an oil-change ONLY (do no look at anything else) using Castrol Edge. Charge $250 for oil-change and if you want your car checked over prior track event. I really thought I was getting ripped off in NSW but compared to this, it almost seems a bargain.

Chasers - nice friendly people, apparently specialise in Nissans but most of their clients seem to be imports of varying degrees. $170 for an oil change using Motul 8100 (which is apparently better than the turbolight which I can currently using) and they will check things over.

Thanks for meetin up Liz - I'm not as brave as you to be doing oil changes in my driveway! The RacePace dudes didn't turn me away, but I do wonder if they are ripping me off for no good reason. They also seem to specialise in R34GTRs, which is somewhat comforting but also somewhat intimidating.

Now if I am not supposed to post prices, please let me know but I thought I'd try to help anyone else out in my situation...

I will update this thread if I go to one of these workshops & have positive/negative feedback...

There is no issue with posting prices.
