Hi guys,

I'm planning to install oil pressure and oil temperature gauges so I've got a question regarding sandwich plate.

Should I use teflon tape for the sensors/bolts? If so are they the same(i mean teflon tapes)? I have some that I used for plumbing but I assume I shouldn't be using plumbing stuff in the car, unless they are all the same and something tells me that they are not.

Should I use some kind of sealant for O-rings?

Cheers
Kostya

hey mate.

do a search. there heaps of threads. you can use the tape for the sandwich plate to the block but you need to use liquid sealent on the sensors as it earths them or something like that.

good luck

yeah, did some reading and bought some thread sealant.

ALso is it possible to unbolt the filter by hand, or do I have to use special wrench? Actually since they cost like 10 bucks I just might buy it...

Ouch… I guess I should switch to something like that together with oil cooler, but some front rotors and sway bars have a priority (since I already installed it). And may be nistune too…

I wonder how sandwich plate itself adds more load on that bolt(or whatever its called properly) comparing to the filter only. Is it just extra weight or it doesn’t screw far enough?

i had a oil cooler with relocation but i got rid of it as it just makes things too messy so opted for a sandwhich plate instead.
never heard or read of a sandwhich plate failing (apart from kemps lol)

oh no no this happened on my old 180. i'm saying i'll be getting a different housing all together when it comes time to install gauges, thats all. will probably hold off and do it and an oil cooler setup all at once.
and yeah, it was the exact same damage. just not enough thread on the standard housing to attach a sandwich plate to.

the race spec ones didn't come with the fittings last time i looked

the tune agent one comes with -10 fittings.

If the ebay tune agent ones are still going cheap then it'd be the way to go.

Though that said, i've never had an issue with trust or hks block adapters either.
