Hi Guys,

have a question on how to properly set up a breather

my engine is leaking a bit of oil, whereever car is left it drips, have been told it is due to the breather set up which at the moment is just on exhaust side of cover and from the back of block, this is fairly standard vent to atmo set up, but is leaking...

can you guys show me how your breather systems are set up, and do you think it would be worthwhile having another line from the inlet side to try and even out the pressure

i have a catch can installed now, but the flow is the same as they are in picture... i have seen dozens done as mine is, but why am i leaking? could it be a more sinister problem?

cheers

Is it just dripping off the (probably) soaked atmo filter?

Ditch the vent to atmo crap and vent it back to your inlet via the catch can, EPA will rape you for it anyways.

Yeah oil comes out the breathers (hence the catch cans). If your can is full it will spill out everywhere as well. Something else for you to check.

My car goes (looking from the front):
Left side rocker cover to plenum (standard)
Right side rocker cover to sump (standard)
Right side rocker cover to inlet (standard, but if you want to run a catch can put it in this side so it goes rocker cover-->can-->inlet. No atmo.)

cheers mate..

the can is empty... hasnt filled at all since i put it in? car appears to be leaking out of the sump, i havent had a dipstick blow out yet but have been told it could be piston rings?

hmmmm...

next oil channge would it be worth taking off sump and resealing it on? thats about what im thinking if i cant fix it with a breather....

If it's leaking out the sump it's most likely just that, a leaking sump.
Take it off and reseal it.
Front covers leak sometimes as well on SRs (more often than sumps in my experience).
