My rear calipers have the dust boot coming out of it, so I might need a rebuild.

Has anyone done this before? What does it involve? Do I need any special tools?

Does repco etc- sell kits or just Nissan?

yo kirk its pretty simple. change the seals too.

pop the pistons out with an air compressor and some wood in between. use goggles so u dont blow brake fluid in your eyes, keep your fingers clear..

old seals out, new seals in... brake fluid as lube.

new boots and spring holder things.

done.

forgot to mention, im pretty sure its all outlined in one of the skyline service manual, tells you how to put the new boot on and stuff,

I sorta remember it has to go on a certain way, like semi inside out then u push the piston in and it flips and corrects...

so yeah check out the service manual.

make sure u use new brake fluid when u pop the seal back in, dont use lube, she doesnt like it

you can use brake lube silicone if youre not going to be fitting the brakes for a long while

Using silicone stops the rubber from perishing, whereas if you rebuild using brake fluid, you need to keep them wet from then on.

most calipers are the same
all use pretty much the exact same step
rubber grease (its that red stuff from castrol i think) on the seal works best, but try not contaminate areas where brake fluid will come in contact with it, prevent this from happening by using very minimal rubber grease

also remember to lube your slides !
no point rebuilding your caliper and not lubing your slides resulting in a caliper sieze..
