I need to get my Aero front bar repaired. It's plastic, so my shitty fibreglass repairing skills are of little use. I actually want it to be a good job though because it is in a pretty visible spot. Essentially it is a large crack right in the middle on the bottom which extends to the lower section of the lip.

Can anyone recommend a place to take it to? A lot of smash repairers won't do it because it's not on the car and because I want to pay cash.

Cheers.

No, the bar is in primer at the moment and is getting painted (along with the rest of my Aero kit).

I'm not out to have a car with cable ties, been there done that, would rather just have a clean looking car with a minimalistic body kit.

I think you still should be able to use fiberglass from inside to re-enforce the structure and use body filler from the front to smooth it up...

But I'm not a pro and I'm just guessing

I assumed what anthony meant, was to use the soldering iron to melt the cable tie into the crack :-?

Oh, I see what you mean, but surely that wouldn't be that strong? Seeing as it is in a point on the bar which will no doubt scrape up steep driveways, I figure it needs to be repaired properly.

Basically the only proper option you have is plastic weld. You will either have to take it to a proper plastic weld mob (they should be found in yellow pages), or have a go at it yourself.

People have successfully used a soldering iron and cable tie, but you can make a real mess if you stuff it up. You can buy plastic welders on ebay for like a couple hundred.

Plastic welding is easy after you have done it a few times (i plastic welded my jap S14 grill and spreayed it and looks fine).

Why dont you plastic weld the back of the bar (so there is no crack) and bog/ high fill the front and sand it down... well thats what i would do....
