Post subject:  My Sr Is Missing?, On High Boost

hi guys i have an s14 s1 engine, i have changed the fuel filter, new surge tank, new fuel pump & sard fuel pressure reg
its only missing on 10psi or more & it feels like not enough fuel or its getting to much, but everything is set right & surge tank is full
could it be the igniter??? spark plugs??? or the air flow meter??? or injectors??? i'm running stock computer by the way
its really shitting me & not sure what else to do i'm stumped

also on the back of the stock igniter theres a metal plate, if thats touching the body of the car, can that also be a problem??? earthing out??? getting to hot etc???

any help would be great

did it do it before you did the fuel mods?

yea not as bad, its worse now also edited 1st post about igniter

the ignitor is earthed through a wire, not the body so i doubt it's the problem. Ideally get it mounted properly though

Whats your base fuel pressure. You should be aiming for 36-38 (2.5 bar) with the vacuum signal to the reg disconnected.

Is the sard reg a 1:1 rising rate?

If both of those are right then you will be looking at plugs and/or coils.

yep all good.. justin told me that the fuel press should be 2.5kg/cm2 at idle, and 3kg/cm2 at idle with the vacuum line disconnected

the thing is if i run it on that setting it runs way to much fuel floods it, so its hard to turn it back on...

this sard one below is the one i'm running

those are the factory standard figures,so if it's flooding with that pressure you have either injectors that are too large for the ecu,or an ecu that's mapped to run them too long for the idle airflow.

I doubt it's an ignition problem, although just to be sure I'd be chucking some new plugs in and retrying it. if it still breaks down, remove the new plugs and gap them down from 1.1 to 0.9 or from 0.9 to 0.7 and retry.
if it still breaks down then, and the fuel pressure is where it should be,then you have ignition problems.

Is that SARD regulator a rising rate one? If so, there is your problem. Unless the regulator supplies the same rail pressure at the same boost pressure as the stock one, you will have problems

eg, say for example that the stock rail provides 32psi at idle, and 42psi at 10psi, but the SARD one is rising rate at 2:1, it will provide 52psi hence overfueling the engine.
