proper japanese stuff is so cheap nowadays there's no real reason to skimp a few bucks and take the knock-off option with something like this.

Justin...

That was true up until about now. Getting stuff from Japan is roughly 40% dearer now than it was 2 months ago due to the horrible exchange rate

tell me about it. I have several grand of stuff in the works atm and it's just gone up by quite a lot. so has the price of ammo, and some pistol parts I have on order. not happy Jan.

I'd still pay the current price (~$700) for a koyo over $200 for a JJR radiator though. the JJR one I have here is complete shite. I've only kept it as an emergency spare in case the OEM A/T sized koyo in my car dies.
even at the ebay price of $150 I felt ripped off when I opened the box it came in.

my stagea actually ran hotter on the freeway with the JJR 50-something mm thick radiator than with a 25mm thick koyo.

almost half of that car went into a skip bin. I still get messages asking for parts. most get deleted without a response.

mashimoto/saber/isc/justjap are all the same if not 99% similar.

but none the less, who has used one of their rads and had good results?
my friend had on in his 180sx but the top filler neck kept leaking fluid out, nothing biggy and only a weld can fix it but after other opinions.

bigger is only better if you need that extra capacity. for heavy track use, yes, for mostly street driving, probably not.

don't replace the fan, they work VERY well.
thermo fans in most cases don't even match the std fan for flow, and the drag on the engine from the fan is minimal, you'd be unlikely to see the difference on a dyno between with it or without it fitted.

Agreed. Stock Fan > Thermo

Not necessarily, but by the time you spend 300 on a pair of 14 inch fans (which is what i found was needed to keep the skyline in line) and another 50-80 on a switch then muck about mounting them it's just not worth it.

thanks guys. yeah i think ill stick with stock fan, like you say the power dif is minimal if any (you still need to draw power to make electricity to make thermo's spin) and it will just cost more.
