Post subject:  Stereos - Taking the front speakers out

hey guys

thanks to everyone with replying in my last post bout the head unit

got a question

how do i take the stockies(speakers) out from the front of a 180

is it necessary to take the door off?

also with my current cd player it seems to skip when i go over any bumps at all..is this normal? or is it due to my suspension setup(rock hard)

thanks

to get the front speakers out you need to take the door trim off. You will need to remove a screw behind a little cap at the top towards the front end of the car, and another in the door handle (inside). Remove the little square cap with a flatbalde screw driver and it's under there. From there you need to remove the outside surround of door handle (the bit that you pull to open the door) just gently leaver it out with a flat blade screw driver (the handle itself and lock stay there, only the surrond slides out. Then you need to pull the power window/handle panel out, do this the same way, the whole panel comes out, disconnect the wires on the back by removing the clip plug in the back of it. Now you should be able to pull the bottom of the door trim out, there is a few clips at the bottom of the trim, just pull to get the out, once that is done simply lift the door trim upwards and it will come off.

Grab yourself a screw driver and take the speaker out, depending on what is in there and what you are planning on putting in there it will most likely need a bit of customising to get the new speakers in.

As for the h/u skipping, it depends on the deck you have and how well it is mounted to whether it should skip or not. Have you got it screwed into the dash with the brackets ?? if not it will most likely skip, decks need to be secure to work correctly. Could be the quality of the deck thou, some decks just skip no matter what you do coz they just aren't built that well. I have a clarion deck and Tein HR coilovers with 17inch rims, so my ride is pretty stiff and my deck never skips.

sorry for the long post, but I hope that helps ya out :)
