Post subject:  Speaker Dimensions and Depth

Hi all,

Looking at upgrading the stereo and speakers and trying to find some information.
From what i've found you can fit 6.5" speakers in both the front and rear parcel shelf.

I just wanted to confirm the following:
- with the front speakers do these have to be a 'shallow' speaker to fit into the pre existing hole? or are you able to fit 'full depth' speakers without having to make a bracket/spacer. I want to put some component speakers up here but want to ensure they fit.
- i'm assuming you can fit any depth speaker in the rear parcel shelf because they just drop into the boot area.

Also i'm looking at Focal speakers because they are awesome from what i've heard. Has anyone had any experience with these speakers?

Thanks guys,

I'm wondering what people do for rear speakers in a 180sx...
The standard speakers in the back are small oval shaped ones, is there a half decent replacement or do people just mount 6x9's or splits in the rear somewhere ?

yer i talk to a guy who work at stratfield car radios only a few weeks ago he replace the 4x6 speakers in the back of his 180 with 6" 3ways he seems to think they fit in easy, but my opinion is its not ' easy ' the mounts have to be pulled out and modified I stripped my 180's interior myself and yea the rear mounts are like one of the last things that come out lol...

there are some good 4x6's around but you will have to serch a bit for them and order them from somwere, common in the USA not so much local...

i got fusion 5" 3ways in the rear cards there cheapo's they do the job lol...
