hi,
installed a pioneer deck deh-8650 i bought off a friend but has no inputs for red/white RCA

i thought all decks come with inputs, wat to do?

there is a socket on teh back of the unit which could be the missing adapter. is this the bit i need?

if so,
does anyone have one or know where to get it without me calling pioneer to get chopped with their premium prices?

a fang q!

i just checked out my other spare deck in the garage which is by luck a pioneer, and the rca cables (white and red ) are built in to the back of deck, top corner, i think your one is a newer version so i dont know why yours wouldnt be built in aswell then :-?

normally aux inputs are not RCA's

usually its those multi pin style sockets

the model number is deh-p8650mp.

its def missing the input plugs, and im certain the deck is more than 2 years old. so maybe its a older version,

but i thought all old ones would have it and newer ones wouldnt since they have bluetooth and usb type inputs these days. so its understandable if it was a new unit to not have rca..

this deck doesnt even play DVD-r's so still on the cd-r technology. so its def old..

i wanted a multiple coloured screen and the current models were way off my price range.

picked this one up for cheap and whether it plays dvd or cd it dun matter. im runnign my xbox into it and all my music is in there.

so yeah i could have taken your advice bought a ok one for wat im using it for (to amplify the music) but wanted one that had the looks too.

does anyone out there have a spare adapter? or know of which prong to solder the rca's to

yeah it looks like those multi pin sockets.. and the pic you added is diff from mine, yours actualy has input for rca's

from the pic it looks like there is a blue bit that has pins . thats similar to mine.. and thats all it has..

its got outputs to the amps, but no inputs. other than the muli-pin arrangement like moko suggested. i thought that was for a cd changer. does it double as input?

usually it is, but you can hook up other things as well.

i got a ipod adapter cable, which hooks up my ipod as an input through this multi pin socket.

so it is possible to get input in there..

theres many pins, maybe ill just find out wat each pin does and solder a rca to the corresponding left/right pins.

ill find a way.. thansk guys,,.

the aux input of a pioneer goes into the squarish blue plug.

yes you can get RCA aux input for them, i had one for my old head unit. cost me about $50 i think from www.caraudiowarehouse.com.au

good luck soldering to one of those plugs :P

oh cool.. ill try and source one from there.. at least i knwo its posssible.

but 50bux is a bit steep for just an adapter. so they sell em at jaycar or is it s pioneer "special" ?

thanks fellas.

nope each brand has their own interface and AFAIK there is no 'generic' interface for any model

if they did that, they would never sell accessories. the markup on stuff like that is horrible!

$50 isnt all that steep. some other brands are VERY exy.
