you need a noise supressor put on your RCAs. or i bet you are using a speaker level input to your amp

also, your wiring is shit house. get it fixed while you install the noise supressor.

this reminds me of when i used to work at strathfield car radios....

we used to offer free advice the first couple of times ppl had problems like this on a self install, then after that we'd book them in and charge some silly amount just to check your earth/ground point.

its really not that hard - check your earth points are 100% clean. make sure your RCA's are not cut or pierced or kinked. make sure all fuses and all connection points are properly insulated.

or, take your car down to strathfield car radios and book it in. i'll organise a good deal for u

sand the grounding points to ensure they are clean, it MAY look clean but isnt.

or wrap your RCA joints in electrical tape, that helps

if you have ANY joins in your RCA wiring get rid of it/them. you want 1 single sheilded RCA per channel from the head unit to your amp.

yer thats what i meant zei,
from the back of the deck where it joins to a rca cable, wrap electrical tape around that, i did it before to stop alot of interfence and buzzing sounds.

you sure it was electrical tape?? because its not shielded so wouldnt do shit.

Post subject:

the shielding ripped off lol
so i used electrical tape.
still works a treat !

Post subject:

dude the shielding is a metal braiding that surrounds the wiring. if thats not there then your RCAs are rooted and should be replaced

alright guys on the weekend i pulled it out and cleaned up the back of the headunit coz it was messy, i taped everything up checked all the grounds and i still cant find anything its absolutley stuffd. when the car is off their is no interference, but soon as u turn the key 2 ignition it starts but is not that noisy, and also when the ignition is on whe u put the indicators on it also makes interference. im really stuck the only thing i can think of is just 2 re wire the whole thing again.

i take it your car is SR20DE??

they are the only one with a distributer because im not sure direct ignition cars affect the stereo

anyway, i think you can get a noise supressor for the coil or the main ignition line.

hey man heaps of people run the power cable and RCA cables together when installing their stereos. your should never run them together as u get that supercharged noise going through your speakers so if u sperate them your problem will be fixed...(if that is how u ran it)

^^^ spot on. keep your power cable seperate to your speaker wires and signal/rca cables. run your power from the battery to the back on the same side as battery is located. run your speaker and rca either down the centre under the consoles and to the back or on the opposite side to the power cables. always use good quality shielded rcas. you can get decent ones from jaycar, not the $15-20 cheapies the $35 plus ones.
