Zero the gain on the amp to the sub, turn the volume upto 40, slowly turn the gain up on the amp til the sub distorts then turn it back a little bit. then play with whatever other settings the amp has until it sounds good ?

pioneer decks have a built in EQ too so put that on flat (or pick a setting you like)

you may have the gain up too high, also if the HU doesn't have a subwoofer frequency setting then you will need to adjust that on the amp, or if it does then set it correctly on the HU, if the frequency is too high the sub will sound boomy, if it is too low, it will lose its effect. other thing to check is that the loud setting is off on the head unit, and that the bass boost (if it is on the amps) is turned off :D
