Hello,
Has anyone ran power cables from the battery to the boot in the S15?

where did you run the feed from the battery??
As I'm trying to wire(4AG) up my amplifiers

Also, has anyone changed the battery terminal? If so how did you wire up the 3-4 wires thats hooked up to that red cover thing? did you just cut it off and wire it up to a ring type terminal?
I want to use a Jaycar/Stinger/ whatever Gold battery terminal...

CHeers :D

Whilst it's not overly hard it does requires a whole BUCKET load of patience. I actually run 1/0AWG cable in my S15.

You'll find a rubber grommet in the firewall behind the plenum chamber. Run the cable through there. It comes through above the clutch pedal.

as has been said,it's a total bastard getting decently sized cabling into silvias.

the grommet FHRX has recommended using is just big enough for one 1AG cable, and nothing else. if you want ANY other wiring or such to get into the car afterward, forget it. no boost gauge,no alarms,no room left.

I ended up running one 8AG cable through this grommet alongside all my other crap, and a second 8AG cable under the car,and up through a hole I drilled and grommeted just in front of the shifter.
there's just enough space to run a 1AG through this area if you wanted to,but you're going to need a nice 1" holesaw to do it,and again,a little patience....

With respect to you fergo308, I do have an aftermarket computer, boost gauge, 1/0 cable and custom car tracker all installed in my heap of junk and I have not drilled any holes???

It just takes patience, there are ways through...

FHRX: sweet! any chance of a photo? I'm curious to see how you got it all through there without any modification to the firewall.

That's a good idea actually. I haven't taken too many photos of the firewall itself yet so I will today sometime.

Standby. :D

Guys i think you are all doing it the hard way running cable (especially thick ones like 0 or 4ga) through that grommet behind the plenum in the 200sx.

IMHO i find the best way to run any decent sized cable (i used 4ga) from the battery into the car (and through to the boot) is to use the same hole that the majority of the factory wiring that goes through from the engine bay into the cabin uses.

Where is that you ask?

Inside the drivers side wheel arch.

You dont need to take the wheel off, although i do recommend turning it to make things easier. Get a normal and phillips head screwdriver and undo the screws that hold most of the guard lining in. Once you drop this down you will be able to see a VERY large grommet with wiring running though the middle of it. This comes out just above and behind the incabin fuse box in the footwell of the car).

Its quite simple to push that VERY large grommet out, undo some electrical tape in the middle and then push your cable through. This is all very obvious how to do once you see this VERY large grommet. This is also a slightly more direct route between the battery and the cabin than going through the smaller hole in the firewall that everyone else has mentioned.

Rc.
