Post subject:  best place/brands for car audio

hey fellas i'm after an amp and sub with box. budget ~$600 (preferrably less as it's not intended for competition entry or anything). salesguy recommended 1000w 12" sub with 600w 4 channel amp with 2 channels hooked up for front speakers and other 2 for the sub (both in pioneer would set me back about $750) what do you guys reckon. the car already has a deck with speakers and tweeters but i am missing bass. budget ~$600 (preferrably less as it's not intended for competition entry or anything) what's the best place and brand to get value for money?

cheers all.

P.S. in Sydney!

second hand stereo gear will cost u alot less and you will get just as good if not better brands for the same amount of money...might do to check out http://www.caraudioaustralia.com forums in their for sale area...

what speakers are you running in the front? if you are running like splits then i would say run them of an amp, if they are the factory ones, you still could but the improvements would probably be minimal...

If you are looking for budget amps then i reccomend Jaycar, i used one of their monoblock amps in my last car and it worked quite well...

...great boom for ur buck so to speak :P

LOL...come to think of it i have a spare Fusion 12" DVC PowerPlant sub laying around when i had 2 of them in my last car...if ur interested :P

Remeber too that many of the higher market brands also offer entry level ranges that are on par with many of Jaycar's products. Just because something is known as high end doesn't necessarily mean it costs the earth.

Talk to Marty at Fhrx and you might be supprised.;)

i bought a fusion 4ch powerplant amp (fp-504) that runs my front alpine type r splints, and my alpine type s 12" sub, sounds fkin awesum, better than my mates 12" powerplant with a monoblock running it, that amp was on sale for $350 down from $600 and the sub i bought of my mate for $150 and box cost me nothing, just to let you know, but u can buy the type s 12" for round $180-$200 new and a box will cost you round $60 or u can make your own, anyway, that was my cheap bass solution, and is really good
