hey guyz,

jus got a subwoofer hooked up to my car stereo. But a problem ive noticed is that since the carpet in the boot of the S15 is unattached too anything i find that after a 'fun' drive the carpet is all over the place and often i hear the sub box hitting some parts of my boot area..sounds nasty!!

Any ideas and/or what have your guys done to resolve this problem? Just staple the carpet to the base??

you're better off mounting the sub to the car. make a bracket up and drill it to the chassis. even if the carpet is stuck down, the sub will still move with some 'spirited' driving

you could use a heap of velcro, the strong stuff is effective if used in the right amounts.

or you could put 2 brackets on either side of the box, and use a nut and bolt to stick it to the carpet. thats what i did

His problem is that the carpet it moving dude.

Another option to keep the boot tidy issecure the carpet at the sides and velcro the sub box in the spot u want it.

My solution was a bungee cord around the box attached to two spots in my boot, then I got rid of the sub and amp coz it was too much messing around to get anything in or out of the boot! :P

This is what I did for a friends install.....

Thinking outside the square, I had the fluffy velcro on the BOOT FLOOR, and the spikey bit on the carpet.

The different was this person also bought a rear strut brace the same day he got me tyo fix his moving carpet problen, so I just modified some u-bolts to bolt the sub box to his rear strut brace, so the carpet stayed still no matter what , and the sub was bolted to the strut brace, so it didn't move at all, making his boot perfect.

Since then, he wanted his sub moved, so I velcro-d the bottom of the sub box the same as the carpet to the boot, and she only moves if he does some SERIOUSLY hard corners...

Put velcro (rough side) on the bottom of the box, facing downwards. I used a staple gun to attach it.

As for the carpet, used motor trimmer glue to stick it to the wood that sits under the carpet.

I did the velcro in my S13. Not sure if the carpet in the s15's are hard moulded, but with the velcro it does stick the sub to the carpet but now with the added weight, it would drag the carpet around too.

velcro is a great idea - the only problem i see is that the adhesive wouldn't stick too well the underside of the carpet?

atm, i use 2 non-slip mats, one between the cardboard plate and under the carpet and one between the sub and carpet, the only thing that moves is my sub, but it's now been greatly reduced by me mounting my sub in reverse (i.e. front of sub facing back of driver) up against the stock rear strut brace. But spirited driving will still move it.

glue the carpet to the wooden spare wheel cover...or some silicon even might be a better option so it can come off later...the carpet wont move then...worked for Biggles :D

I've also found that using an angle bracket is good to mount them to the wooden cover, but not good when you realise u have screwed thru ur spare :P lol whoopsie

Get your woman to sew the Velcro onto the carpet, then use stronger glue on the boot floor to hold it on.

I had that problem too.

I made two brackets either side of the sub and secured them so the sub couldnt move.

I then secured two bits of wood to the underside of the flooring which sat on between the tyre and the chassis. So know it doesnt move at all.

Took 15 mins to install. 8)
