hi every1,
i have got a dilemma, at the moment i have an idmax sub in a box currently in an astina. i am going to be buying a 180sx very soon and i was wondering if it is possible for my current box to fit in the 180.
the dimensions of the box are
width-93cm
height-33cm
depth-41cm
if not, would it be possible for anyone to give me dimensions of the boot area, especially that between the rear strut towers.
thanx heaps guys

actually i think you will have clearance issues with the height. i just made a sub box a few weeks ago, and can tell you the max height you can run with the stock parcel tray is 31cm

depth and width should be fine, although its pushing it on the width as well

If a 180 is anything like a sil you will be having problems.

I didnt put my sub in an enclosure as it was to hard height wise to get it in

thanx for the help so far guys
is there any chance if i get a custom parcel tray made that i would be able to get away with the height?
it doesnt really bother me because i got two options:
1. make the current box fit and pay $250
2. make a brand new custom box for $310
ideas anyone???

how about make the box yourself for under $60 :P

i made mine, and although it was extremely painstaking making angle cuts with a jigsaw, it came out real nice and im very happy with it

satisfaction factor is so much more when you do it yourself
and if you use a sub box design program, you cant go wrong, i used WSID fwiw

i was restricted by height to 31cm, and depth as well, because of the 6x9's hanging down the parcel tray, i couldnt get 31cm height there, so i had to end the sub box before it reached the speakers - also had to give the front face an angle to get a 12" sub on the panel as obviously with a flat 31cm height its no good for a 12" sub

mokompri: that program, you wouldn't have a link to a place I could d/load it from by any chance would you?

I'll be doing a pretty complex box for the boot of my lexus in a while, and would like an easier way of getting the volume right than by a lot of manual calculation. math was never my strong point.

regards,

Justin...

oops its supposed to be WISD :)

justin, here is the link to download the freeware software!
http://www.linearteam.dk/default.aspx?pageid=winisd

edit: i have an older version from way back, it has a database of heaps of subs and there thiele small parameters so that you dont have to put it in manually, but double check them with the specs sheet of your sub, as i found some parameters were incorrect with my vega sub.
