No turbos are rated at "1 bar"

Turbo hp "ratings" are just made up numbers

Both T517Z & T518Z turbochargers are from the TD05 family of turbochargers.
That is, T517Z = TD05 17C compressor wheel & high response TD05 turbine wheel.
& T518Z = TD05 18G compressor wheel & high response TD05 turbine wheel.
17C = 0.17cubic meters / sec airflow max @ peak compressor efficiency.
18G = 0.18 cubic meters / sec airflow max @ peak compressor efficiency.
Peak compressor efficiency varies from turbo to turbo. Fwiw, Mitsubishi turbos generally achieve 75% peak efficiency or better.

Btw, the “made up” potential HP numbers from TRUST are 395ps & 430ps respectively. Most manufacturers release numbers like this so as to offer an application guide. Not a rule.

The other member of the TRUST TZ Turbine series is the T618Z, designed for maximum output, low mount RB26DETT applications.

Thats a pretty good bit of info.

Why are the td05-18g only rated at 380ps but the t518z is rated at 430?

Also I found it odd that trust never released the td05 series as a bolt-on for SR to compete with the 2530/2540 (ie turbo only)

The HP numbers are a guide, Not a rule.
They are to help you decide which turbo you want.
Assuming you intend to use it for the application they intended.
The difference betweeen the 2 numbers is intended applications, different compressor covers, different trim turbines & different size turbine housing... that is, though the compressor wheel may be the same, the turbo is infact different along with it's abilities; expected or otherwise.
Fussing over the given HP numbers can be a bit of a waste of time.
Better to just accept number as a guide & don't think too much more into it.

The TRUST TZ series turbo's are designed to compete directly against HKS's GT series of replacments for T25/28s
(Hense the Garrett style turbine housing etc, so as to become a direct swap option.)
Normally a Mitsubishi base manufactured turbocharger isn't a straight swap option with a Garret turbocharger.

The TD05-18G were available in the T2 flange with internal gate, but weren't marketed at the SR/CA crowd... This is weird considering the amount of turbos that HKS managed to sell to that group of consumers.

I understand what you're saying, but it's not that weird when you look at the comp cover inlet & outlet. Plus the turbine discharge is a little different.
All of these take away from it being an easy direct swap option.
TRUST produced the T517Z & T518Z turbo's to address this.
As such they can be used as a simple swap option when purchased in kit form. (That is it comes with everything required to fit it.)
That said, you could still use a TD05-18G if you so wished.
Perhaps it is TRUST being a little slow on the up-take re this market sector.??

I guess trust are just not especially interested in the silvia market. they've had mitsubishi based turbo kits for toyota engines for over twenty years.

you will see a few T517Z's on street silvias in japan though, but they're more the exception than the rule. from what I've seen, about 80% of guys who've swapped from the std unit run HKS turbos,as Anthony has said.

Trust have been making 'kits' (inc manifold and ex gate) for CA and SR since forever, but nothing that was bolt-on like the 2530
