ok so my GReddy Type S BOV is running on my car. its all hooked up sounding like i expected.

I now have an idle problem, my Trust e-manage can compensate for the BOV opening at idle, but i dont like this option. How are you all doing it? or are you putting up with it? Personally i hate the car almost stalling when up pull up at a set of lights, i pisses me off bigtime. I dont want to run it plumb back, so if i cant fix it, im selling it and going back to no BOV at all.

Ive tried adjusting the spring tighter - 'harder' - but to no avail. unfortunately it didnt come with the normal sdjustment screw, it was supplied with a bolt and a screw that i can adjust it with, it has the same effect but i dont think i can screw it down far enough to stop it from opening at idle.

anyway enough of my rambling, what did you guys do? lol

Is you BOV new ???
The idle problem is casued by a leak not by an atmo BOV.
An atmo BOV will mean you car will run rich at gear changes as there is less air going into the motor then the ECU thinks there is therefor more fuel.
My car only now has started to do the same thing, it hunts for a few seconds then idles perfectly.
I at first thought its becasue the BOV is not closing properly, so i took it off and WD40'ed it, it now releases much easier so I know the WD40 has made it move much easier, but even on the tightest setting it still releases quite easily, so I have been told the spring in the BOV has a life span after a while it looses its tighness :o and therefore does not close properly casuing a leak.
Thats why I ask again is it new, if not then maybe you are in the same boat I am and my BOV is a hybrid one.
P.S. I have had it on the car for over 2 years and 50,000 Km's and only now has it started to do it.
Sorry about the long post, but I had a lot to say :P

hahah its all good i know what you mean

no its 2nd hand. ill try the wd40. the spring tightness between the both of them was a lot tighter on the trust unit.

wd40 test it is then lol

My Atmo bov, GFB Mach 1 has no such stalling problem, the rev drop after stopping is barely noticeable. Maybe you need to try a different brand of atmo bov if you like using them.

Hehe, talk to dumhed about dodgy bov setups, we ended up stretching the spring to buggery so it took both hands to try and keep the sucker closed while we clamped it with plumbing brackets and stuff :D

Can you get tighter springs for the Type-S?

If you can that should make it work alright.

Hey dude,i've got a GReddy Type R BOV that obviously vents to the atmosphere.I've got stock management and that's it.I've had no problems at all and my car runs like a dream.Maybe you do have a leak or something.

Flutter is subjective. To me it's only slightly bad, but hey, its a 14 year old turbo!
The only reason it would break from back spin if it was already fuxxord.

its not crying, its also under warranty. not that it makes a difference. BUT there has been no real proof besides what people have heard that it is bad. i like it, it all comes down to personal preference. BOV is sold now anyway so this thread is over :P

Hi guys im new to this site but owner of an s15 for 2 years
got a few questions bout the staling cause im starting to get it too, i have the standard bov but the aps setup , stalling at lights when you suddenly stop or something, is that bov related or something else?
which bov is best? aps reckons plumb back i think? but they said none of them were good enough to use which is why there project car doesnt have one.they since have made their own but only for rxies not for 200.
whats this flutter?
