What does it mean when you have a T03 or a T04 turbo as opposed to a T3 or T4. Is it just an abbreviation or are they completely different things? As far as I know, the T[number] designation refers to the size of the turbo. What "size" is it actually reffering to? And what does the 0 infront of the number mean? Also, when you have a turbo with a different sized compressor wheel to the actual turbine, is this is expressed as like T3/4, and if so which number refers to the turbo and which refers to the compressor? Any Help Appreciated. Brian |

a T3 is the same as a T03 its just the name that garret have given that turbo, it has no real definition of the size of the turbo otherwise all turbo companies would use the same numbers in the names of their turbos, which they clearly dont. a new T3 might be slightly different to an old T3 in size and design. for sizing and matching hybrid turbos, tuners use a number marked on every housing both turbine & compressor called the A/R A/R = Area divided by radius, basically indicates the profile of the part. If you were to cut a turbine housing in half and look at the cross section you would see the area that is used for that ratio, which is divided by the radius of the wheel. does this help at all? let me know if you need more |
