Post subject:  Swapping housings on GT2871r

Heya,

I have a rooted 2871r and might be getting another but the exhaust housing is 0.86 and mine is 0.64, It also has an S15 style front housing while mine is a 3 inch bellmouth.

Does anyone know if I can swap 1 or even both of the housings over with ease? By easy I mean it wont require any special tools or re-balancing?

Cheers

If the 2 turbos have the same trim front wheel, then it is a fairly simple job. You do have to be careful not to damage the wheels in the process. The exhaust housing might need a scary amount of force to get off if its rusted on.

Tools required are spanners and mallet

sweet I'll find out. As far as I know all 2871r's have 71mm comp wheels

Hence me saying different Trims. There is more than one important measurement on a compressor wheel.

There are 3 compressor trims available for the 2871 - 48, 52 and 56

ah ok, I'm not sure what trim it is, is there some way to tell? comp cover says A/R 60, the rest is pretty hard to read since its a low mount

Look at the tag on the core of the turbo
