The amount of cutting required to get a hybrid intercooler on compared to another intercooler will only differ with the size of the cooler.

Mercury Motorsport (http://www.mercurymotorsport.com.au) have got both 600x300x76 AND 500x300x76 (if less room is available) for $550 delivered in stock at the moment. Send an email to sales@mercurymotorsport.com.au for more information.

So, I guess Mr. Peterd logs onto his local favorite online store to spend some good cash. Say $8K on his S15 net result at the wheels 200 if he is lucky.

Here I am spending the same amount, but my car will break traction in 4th gear and pull 122mph down the 1/4.

That my friend is the difference between you and me and why you are further behind the 8 ball then what you think.

ok Mr Amosite, most people have spent close to 12k on accessories if you will.. such as FMIC, cold air induction or at the very least - a pod, BOV, upgraded snail, exhaust, cam gears, silicon hoses, computer, injectors, fuel pump, AFM plus a few other little bits and pieces. how in the world can i spend half the $$$ to get the 200+rwkw on a black top SR20DET?
is it possible? damn... wish i knew years ago... i would have saved a pretty penny for sure.
i do however know that imported products such as HKS, Apexi, Cusco etc is pricey but certainly not over priced. Even with close to 15K spent on running gear and that is with knowing the right people.... I'm still shitted off @ getting a mere 220rwkw. Enlighten me.. oh wise one!

did you use the hybrid piping?

it's thinner / lighter, which will transfer a lot more noise.
The core design could possibly radiate more noise, but there couldn't be much difference.

A few people have also had small leak problems - mainly in the first pipe from the turbo. That's been on both Hybrid and Jap brand kits though.
Make sure you use good clamps.

no im actually using the original piping that came with the HKS set up.
the only mods i had to do was change two of the silicon hoses to suit the end pipes from the cooler itself.
might have to invest in another - more reliable cooler.

not tryin to bag out the Hybrid products but there seems to be too much negative comments. secondly, i have tried it myself so i can be at the very least a little criticising.

anyone got any TRUST, HKS or APEXI FMIC's or similar without the plumbing for sale? its a much easier fix for me considering i already have my plumbing in place.

well.. basicallly you can hear the air rush thru it! sounds like a wind tunnel bolted to the front of your car..
not only can people hear the whistle of the turbo as i approach, but also a kind of pshhhhhhhhhhhhhh sound. hard to explain.
