you don't need data. You only need to know it is the greatest turbo eva!

That's why i have one.

That is yet to be proven.

Though admittedly IW is the path fraught with danger for the uninitiated.

It's a real 3071R .63 IW turbine housing

so the 56T 71mm compressor in a .5 A/R housing, 60mm 84T uncropped turbine.

It has some fairly serious issues with boost creep in the mid range. The internal gate isn't up to the task on the 25. I'll be pulling the turbo off after saturday night to get the gate enlarged

Initial results of 260rwkw at 16psi
makes 7psi at 2300rpm in 5th on the street (i was just playing to see what it would do)

And it was a weapon on the track even though i was driving around the creep issues and not using full throttle. knocked 2 seconds off my pb at wakefield. 1:08.94 now :D

thats because your being soft with the boost being run :P

the IW is sized up for only the hardcore...

sounds like your happy, although im sure on 2.5L its quite nice. so how much boost/power are you planning/hoping on running ?

hows the response compared to your previous turbo, this one obviously has alot more power potential.

16-17 psi is track day boost, 20psi is street boost and nankang challenge boost.

It'll see 20+ psi for dyno duties, no point in not pushing the envelope on the dyno. If it makes more than 280 on 98 octane i'll be pretty happy. To get more than that would require funny fuel and manifold changes.

I don't think this one will make any more than the previous one. The stock manifold is a limitation and the smaller compressor (even though it's new tech) isn't capable of flowing more than the old nugget turbo. I swapped to gain more response without sacrificing too much top end. I've actually gained a lot more midrange than i expected.

It kills the old combo for response. the old one would see 20psi around 3200rpm but there wasn't much below that, the new one starts a lot earlier and sees 16psi well below 3k. Haven't pushed any further than that atm.

oh yeah, 7psi by 2300 in 5th on a flat road. The old one was lucky to see positive pressure around there.

I'm happy that the potential is there. I've got the shits that garrett have released a turbine housing that doesn't have the wastegate flow necessary for it's smallest gt30 turbo and i have to remove the housing and enlarge the wastegate flap at my cost.

isnt this the turbo that has flowed 300+ on some SR's ? had a quick look at the compressor map, it should do the 280 easily and quite possibly more with a better manifold

300+ on SRs havent been proven on the IW housing though.

same compressor wheel though.. same everything really minus the wastegate

i really dont see the a big difference between the 2 wastegate options in terms of power/efficiency if any. for any given boost pressure thats desired they both have to bypass the same volume of exhaust gasses and will not be allowing absolute flow so as to result in a boost increase from stock wastegate levels.

yes Mr Bean, you did :P

It's not a common issues to have creep at 3k (if you can call it creep when boost is set to .8 bar but the spike goes over 1.6 if you let it)
