the disco potato is a GT28RS, whereas the GT-RS is an HKS turbo.

The GT-RS is big and laggy, with around a 250rwkw peak.
The GT28RS is much closer to the stock T28, with around a 220rwkw peak.

well they are from unigroup, they have pretty much tweeked the tomei pon cams, dont know the exact specs, i got them written down somewhere but im pretty sure they are a 256-258 in and ex with about a 10.5 lift.

they are going to make the car a little grumpy down low but mid range will be about the same as std cams and they only get better from there up. :D

^ I've got the same cams from Yavuz in my S15 too :)

very curious to see how it goes with the turbo as my next step is turbo too. Yavuz is very excited for me to upgrade the turbo so he can see what he can get out of it with those cams, so i guess he'll find out on your car first!

Keep me/us posted please mate!

they're the blanks that they start with... then they are custom ground to Unigroup/Yavus' own specifications...

Camtech offer to reground stock cams, or machine new billet items.

I'd be finding out which one of these options was chosen in your case.

As far as I'm aware, the main problem with "reground" cams is in the hardening process. I can't speak for camtech as I'm unaware of their exact process, but most reground cams are only flamed hardened after the final grind, which only hardens a few thou deep.

Flame hardening should be done before the final grind and then again after the final grind, but this requires them to set the grind up twice, thus more time consuming and expensive.

I'm not 100% sure if thats correct, but I think the basic idea is there.
