my internals have been built...

i am in the serious process of sourcing a turbo that will give me the above power output...

turbos im keen at the moment is the 2871R from garret GT range...

turbine A/R 0.86 trim 76

does anyone have this on a sr20 making a power range i specified???

unsure if this forum has any previous discussion on a related topic dont have the time to search for it as there is a million post...

you should be aiming for a gt3071r not a gt2871r for that sort of power

any particular reasoning for 260 - 300? makes narrowing down your turbo options easier if you have a more direct goal and power figure. I suggest doing a search as similar topics have been discussed.

i know a gt30 will get me the figures easily but its the trouble i got go through with installation and the response tradeoff i have to give up... these gt2871 have a rating of 360 to around 480 depending on the turbine specifications... i was hoping some one with past experience has trialled this turbo to it limits and wat max power able to get... if it possible i shall go for the t3 flanged gt 30... external gating... manifold etc... though i love responsiveness....

thats my target i have set in my head because thats what i would be happy to get... with the mods i have done so far... my bro got the same mods with a gt 3040 and his getting 255 on 20 psi i was hoping to get similar with smaller turbo and a more precise tune...

talk to dumhed or BHAPPY about proper 3071's on SR's and how close the response is to a 2871 while making 30 rwkw more.

i have a GT2871 with the .86 rear, so far 211kw@15psi, 235kw@21psi without cams

this turbo's efficiency range starts at 18psi

with a set of mid sized cams, cam gears and a good tune it should make 260rwkw

doubt it... were you able to run more then 21psi or did you just want to run that much by choice

C&V did the tune but they didnt want to push the engine without cams, they said they could get about 240-245kw with a few more pounds of boost, they assured me it would make 260rwkw at 21-24psi with cams

they must run a happy dyno, GTRS's make around ~250 with cams when they are pushed hard

goodluck getting that sorta power out of a 2l engine with any form of usable response, ive been in a stroked sr with cams and a 2871r .86 with pfc, inject etc. full boost by 4000rpm. to me thats not response

What C&V assure and what they deliver may well be two different things.

a 2871R wont be making that sorta power. I pushed a GTRS hard the other week an Spawn9000's (recce's) old car. Fully built engine with cams and the lot. It had 259Kw in it and not a drop more. Scary car to drive once tunned. Needless to say Brenton the new owner is happy at 1 bar.

I would be saying 3076 or 3071. Dont go any bigger than .63 on a SR and it will make what you want. I Use the larger housings on RB's and 2js etc but stick with the .63 for yours.

I agree that's not response however it sounds like whoever built the car didn't know what they were doing as it's not hard to get a lot better results that that with a 2.0, never mind a stroker. I wouldn't be judging what an SR is capable of based on something that was put together poorly.

agreed.however it was tuned by a well known sydney tuner.im not going to judge the car just on this, however i think its pretty common knowledge by now that up around that power level it takes a bigger exhaust housing+wheel. therefore to make that wheel rotate with take a greater amount of airflow, to build that airflow you need engineload/rpm. we are all very aware of this.
