182Go is showing he can cut and paste with the best of them! He is clever :D

but not cleverer enough to find the specs of the real 3071!

http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/merch ... y_Code=GRT

personally i'd run a .6 comp cover for the rb25 (which is what hks run on the 2835) with a .63 turbine housing (because i don't like lag). Or maybe play around with the .7x split pulse one offered by atp as it would suit my manifold.

What was the original question?

Only thing is I don't trust ATP's comp maps on their website as they are sometimes markedly different to Garrett's own. But yeah they have a lot of stuff on their website!

WHAT!!! you want cut and paste AND accurate info!!!
They are both from the Garrett website so they should be right.
Would be nice if Garret updated their website to include all the info...

From what I could gather the conversation was based on the "typical" 3071 with the modified T28 housing and T3 wheel.

There are some 3071's with external gates on the comparision page but dont indicate any specs for them.

Yeah the typical GT3071 I made comments about: http://forum.silviansw.com/viewtopic.ph ... 870#217870

A few people seem to have a problem with boost creep too. Not sure if the HKS has the same problem because I believe they have their own custom housing (GT2835R).

do you have a custom split pulse manifold BHD ?

back on page one in my initial post I was asking about efficiency the 3071 with the T28 flange (like the Garrett one I posted) the T3 flange doesn't appear to have any better compressor map than it's T28 cousin. Which is kind of where we all started.

Nah, cast hks low mount.

It has the front 3 and rear 3 divided until the outlet. On 4's it's a bit touchier.

Whole new debate right there... Split or Not??

I personally wouldn't have thought it would have made a monumental difference but it should make a bit...

Just curious what do you think that would go like on an SR with a split manifold? Its only available with a .78A/R would the split housing / manifold make up the difference in response over say the .63 A/R?

^^ Thats the question people are raising all over the net, not only in terms of the SR too. I find it funny the stock manifold is a split pulse design, yet the turbo wasnt?

How can it make any real difference? Yes you have half the area to promote a faster spool but at the same time you only have half the flow...

Maybe I should buy one and give it a go

The total flow is about the same because you got only 2 cylinders for each half. A few OEMs like Toyota had split pulse turbos.

Thats what I meant... Yes it has a smaller chamber but only 2 cylinders to feed each half... I don't understand the extensive implications of the gas laws to fully appriciate how much difference it would really make.

logic would dictate that to pressurise a larger surface area would require more than double the effort for double the surface area size but I really am only guessing.

i thought the main difference was exhaust gasses were kept seperate until the turbine housing, this helped flow, spool up and was a good measure to help against reversion

stock EVO's (certain models) run split manifold and turbine housings. there was a thread on here about their turbos

Well I believed with split turbine housings, the nozzle area each pulse has to fill is half of that in a traditional housing, meaning faster gas velocity as it enters the turbine blades. Once the gas speeds are high (at full boost) the diffeerence would be negliable?
