What is this turbo, it doesn't look at all familiar.
This is the only info so far.
I think it's T25 flange but i'm waiting for confirmation on that.
Front housing says: A/R 60
Rear housing says: 0.86 T790

Are the pics working?
The covers look nothing like T25G is all, i've not seen a split exhaust side that looks like that before and the front cover looks somewhat like the larger garret turbos but older. The inlet wheel still does look quite small though, with the big step like a T25G has.

It could be an old special from ray hall or someone like that.

The .6 comp/.86 turbine housing combo is fairly typical of some of the big laggy 2871's getting around but the inlet looks similar to the 3 inch snout non bolt on version of a discopotato.

With the .86 turbine housing on a redtop sr it will be a pretty disappointing unit, but a swap to a .64 s15 rear end might wake it up nicely.

definately T2 size flange btw.

Depending on what the rear wheel spec is won't the effect of the .86 AR vary? Or is just the relation between front and rear AR/s that decides the turbos basic behaviour (amongst other things i'm sure).
Just wondering because it seems that the GTiR turbo would be an ok unit on an S13 and it's specs are as below, they sounds similar to the layman like me.

Factory Nissan Pulsar GTiR T28
TURBINE SPECS: T28
.86 A/R Housing
79 Trim Wheel
COMPRESSOR SPECS: T3
.60 A/R Housing
60 Trim Wheel
Compressor Flow: 33 LB/MIN

hmm yeah after a proper look it has the 9 blade turbine wheel, but the compressor wheel looks pretty small, and the comp housing quite old school.
It's hard to tell from a photo though.

Can you measure up the wheel sizes? (comp inducer, turbine exducer).

What's on the tag on the core?

I'm waiting on some info on it like the tag on the core etc.
I just came accross it while looking for an S14/15, GTiR turbo and it looked interesting.
What does having a 9 blade turbine wheel mean?

Ah ok, so it might have been rebuilt some where along the line because the housings do like quite oldschool.
I just PMd the seller about wheel sizes, and the tag on the core.

So if i get hold of the wheel diameters (supposed to get them sent to me tonight) i should be able to find a similar turbo (if not the same one) and be able to assess how it would perform on an SR20.
The exhaust side seems to be pretty unique with the split wasategate section but the rest of the turbo does look alot like the 2871R.

by the way from the number i quoted is part of that the type of core the turbo has? Ie plain bearing or BB.

Well from the numbers it should make a bit more than a T28, particularly with the .86 rear. It's basically A T28 front wheel with an NS111 rear, never seen something like that before to be honest. Going by the numbers andrew posted I'd say it's ball bearing

Exhaust side looks to be 50ish mm, the inlet you really can't tell from the photo.
Now it's a pretty cheap turbo should i just get it and sus it out in person (it's from QLD)?
