hey guys,

i jus got my turbo in the mail (and carried it from hurstville to milperra  ) and was just checking it out.

ive read a few threads on here about shaft play and am wondering about mine.

its got zero movement in and out although has slightly movement on the radial axis. not like its movement but if u push the exhaust side and the impeller side in differnt directions u will get a slight click, maybe less than a mm but just enough to make it move.

i get the feeling its healthy but wont know till i do my DE+T job.

lemmie know how uz feel bout this.

thanx all

jaydee~

as was the conclusion in the other threads.....
its almost impossible to tell give a 100% answer on reliability from a written description.
although this forum is one of the best when it comes to accurate info, you still dont know who's on the otherside of the screen.
how do you know that im not some 14yr old kid who read on ns.com that "shaft play makes mad flutter, and is fulli sik bro", meanwhile ive never even seen a turbo let alone checked for shaftplay.....

pay for the piece of mind and you wont pay for it later.

ill have my usual turbo specialist ricol check it tomorow.

the other mechanic was local and i only went to see what hed charge for a few things.. btw his analysis was built upon sum spilt oil on the housing

oil spilt on the housing ?? thats his diagnosis, then he tells you to buy his ? c'mon its not hard to tell hes just pushing a sale !

as BHD said i reckon it will be fine too. if its the wheels are not scraping on the housings and there isnt too much play, it should be ok
