Hey guy's

what's you opinion on the Ebay special exhaust manifolds?
Has anyone used them?

the price's on some of them is too good to be true, unless theyre made in chinese sweat shops.

They are made in chinese sweatshops, but they flow quite well and seem to last well too

I dunno if he gives warrenty on them.

There's a few sponsors selling similar manifolds for around $220-299 with 1 year warrenty, and in one case, lifetime warrenty. If it cracks under normal operation, send it back and they'll replace. [Ns.com]

But the hassle of removing manifold and turbo is a pain in the arse. Not to mention the disappointment and downtime.

Nevertheless, when I upgrade my turbo, I'll most likely be getting a SS manifold to go with it. And braided oil lines.

Something I realised in the last 2-3 years is that the products from China are no longer as bad as they were 5 -10 years ago. They are in fact quite decent for the price they are selling at, which is < 50% of Jap brand ones. Of course, the Jap. stuff is superior in the workmanship and finish. Not to mention the R&D they've put into it.

Eg: I've compared the XForce cat-back with the Trust cat-back, and bang for buck, the cheapo wins. But the quality of the Trust Pe II had me forking out a couple more hundred for it in the end. I did buy a XForce cat, and for 55% of the price of a Metal Cat, it was fine with me.

Really depends on your budget and what u intent to do with the car [daily potter or track weapon, redlining 80% of the time].

The China vs Japan quality thing doesn't apply so much with manifolds. I have seen Jap ones that crack long before the chinese ones do.
Also, i know of chinese manfiolds flowing in excess of 250rwkw on SR's

I bought a manifold off ebay a few months back for my 180sx, wasn't off that same person but it looks roughly the same. The are made of good materials and work quite well.

Only problem I had with it is that the stud holes for the turbo weren't tapped straight and the piping wasn't lined up straight with the flange plate. Took it to a welder and got it all cleaned up and simlpy hit the turbo with a dremel to make one hole wider to fit the studs in. Even thou this was a bit of mucking around still only cost me $250 for the whole lot.

Oh yeah. I noticed the studs weren't straight, but a tap with a mallet fixed that up real good

lol thats not as bad as mine. my whole manifold wouldnt fit on the side of the motor. one stud didnt line up at the end, and the other end almost didnt. this was on a sunday night at 8pm in pouring rain in the dark. it stayed like that for 2 months till i fixed it up :)

I doubt id ever buy a japansese made manifold. you could buy 4 or 5 of the chinese made items for the cost of one legit HKS manifold.

very true. i speak to manufacturers in china and the prices given for parts tht cost heaps here are just insane there. =)

machining is a "cut to dimensions" kinda job so the machines do the job.

the extra from Japan is the R&D which is amazing and simply Perfecto like in Pizza Hut's words.

well...i've been wanting to get the S13 hubs that come in 5 stud designs but i guess i've gotta get some EOI. you guys think it'll be useful? it'll replace the current hubs and bolt on like original S13 hubs but only in 5studs =) maybe i could make 4 & 5 stud holes on it.

what do you think? PM me. i'm not a trader, just some bloke

karbon they already exist, but are costly at around $800 for front and rears

so if you can cut the price down even further you may have a winner

karbonphyber: My car has been converted to 5 stud using those hubs. I think its a pretty easy way of doing it.

actually i found a site not too long ago, where they supply you a CAD program, you design something and choose what material you want it made of.

send them the design and they make it for you. i spose you could make measurements of the 4 stud hubs, and making it into 5 stud shouldnt be too hard. i'll see if i can dig it up
